Title: “What’s wrong with single level perspectives in population health?”
Abstract:
In this talk, Professor Subramanian will provide a substantive and empirical critique
of research focused solely on analyzing research questions at one unit of analysis; and
how this leads to either impoverished or misleading (useless) answers to
consequential questions. The lecture will expand by identifying how most scientific
research suffers from the general problem of “omitted” or “missing” levels. A
multilevel conceptual and methodological approach that recognizes this complexity
will be exemplified.
