The Center for the Study of the American South is hosting a discussion at 3:00 pm at the Love House & Hutchins Forum(410 E. Franklin Street) specifically for graduate students, with two of the panelists (Grace Hale and Sheffield Hale), and professors Michael Palm (Communications), Sara Smith (Geography) and PhD Candidate Don Holmes (English/Comp Lit). This early conversation will focus on the difficulties of teaching southern history, humanities, culture, and students in the present moment, as controversies over Confederate legacies and commemoration are swirling.
