Geography graduate student Amy Braun has been awarded the UNC Graduate School Off Campus Dissertation Research Fellowship for spring 2017. Amy’s project examines how the growth of the marine biotechnology sector, and algal biofuels in particular, contributes to producing sustainable development through investments what has been termed the “blue” economy. In the spring semester, she will be conducting field work in Wilmington, North Carolina and Washington, DC.
