This study provides the first observation based understanding of global vegetation growth pattern during 2001-2015 using the most recent version of the remotely sensed data from NASA MODIS Collection 6 data. Overall, the Earth is greening, but vegetation growth patterns are highly heterogeneious. Enhanced vegetation growth is found in the green areas, while vegetation degradation in the red areas.
