In Nov 16, 2016’s GIS day map competition, which was co-sponsored by Geography department and Davis Library, geography major Johanna won first place. There were 38 submissions to the map competition, including a web map on unc.maps.arcgis.com.

Johanna Schaaper, who is a geography major, won the first place, with her map “NJ Crime Rate, Population Change, and Distance between Law Enforcement”.

Erika Brandt, a graduate student from City and Regional Planning, won second place, with her web map “Development of Downtown Chapel Hill” .

Another two geography undergraduate students Tyler Lynn and Rachel Blythe tied for the third place.
