Rachel Cotterman’s ongoing work with the Backways Project and Harvey’s Chapel has recently been featured in the news. She has been interviewed with folks including Harold Russell and Tom Magnuson for several articles on their collective effort to identify pre-Jim Crow trade routes and to preserve old church sites. According to Cotterman, “It feels important to understand how the legally enforced racial segregation of that era was actually paved into the landscape of our state.”
