Conservation and Communities; Complex Adaptive Systems; Resilience; and Livelihood Diversification in East Africa
Tim Baird works closely with Martin Doyle (Geography), Tom Whitmore (Geography) and Paul Leslie (Anthropology) on issues broadly related to complex adaptive social/ecological systems, and resilience of protected areas in the developing world. Currently, Tim is conducting his dissertation research on the effects of conservation on community development and inter-household exchange in northern Tanzania.
