Sarah Schmitt was awarded the Thomas S. and Helen Borda Royster and Snowden and Elspeth Merck Henry Dissertation Fellowship within the Royster Society of Fellows for the academic year 2018-2019. Sarah is a 4th year Ph.D. candidate studying water-ecosystem interactions in tropical islands, including the Galápagos and Ascension Islands. Her research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Geological Society of America, National Geographic Young Explorers Program, and UNC.
