Altha Cravey’s 2011 documentary, “Seed Spirits: The Otomi of Carolina del Norte” will be screened at the Fifth Annual Film Festival of the American Indian Movement West in Santa Rosa, California on October 12, 2014.
One of the innovative things about the film is the direct exploration of indigenous experiences in the Latina/o diaspora, documenting Otomi experiences in Durham NC and in their hometown of San Pablito, Puebla, Mexico. The film was supported with a small grant from NC Arts Council, Folklife Division.
